I connected with Nawa over 2 years ago, during that time our Somatic therapy sessions have held me through life altering grief and relational trauma. It’s been a rough season & I'm not sure how I would have navigated it all without their guidance and care. The insights and practices they've offered in our time together have been truly healing. Our sessions almost always lead me to remembering parts of myself I’ve forgotten or forgotten to attend to, and I find that kind of guidance deeply empowering in many ways. Like some tacit aspects of myself/life are being re-tethered and I can feel what it’s like to come into my fullness again. As opposed to the talk therapy I also access (which is great too & vital in many ways), after our Somatic therapy sessions I find myself leaving energised and somewhat renewed, rather than emotionally drained. We still go to all the hard and necessary places, but there’s something about the way Nawa does it that leaves me trusting that I got it, and that my body knows exactly what it needs. Anyway, couldn’t recommend Nawa more, very grateful for everything our work together has made possible for me so far & looking forward to all the growth to come.

In the old days, the ancestors would travel over deep waters on a bangka or outrigger canoe to fish and trade. This cultural practice informed our relationships with the waters, skies, and lands. As displaced or diasporic peoples, we remember the guidance of the wind/lihangin, stars/lisuga, to find our way back home to kapwa.

I deliberately waited more than two years before writing this review because I wanted to be certain that any changes I experienced were real, sustained, and not simply the result of a temporary improvement. Working with Nawa has genuinely been life-changing. After many (20+) years of traditional talk therapy, I had developed a strong intellectual understanding of myself and my patterns, but I often felt stuck when it came to translating that insight into change. Somatic therapy helped bridge that gap. It transformed years of reflection and understanding into practical tools and embodied experiences that have led to real growth. This work has not been a quick fix or a cure-all. It has required consistency and a willingness to engage deeply with the process. For me, it has worked best alongside ongoing psychodynamic therapy rather than as a replacement for it- BUT, the addition of somatic work has created a shift that I had not been able to achieve through insight alone. It has helped me process and move through issues that I had been stuck on for years. If you are willing to commit to ongoing work and not expect lifelong patterns to shift in 3 sessions, then this will help you. Nawa is an amazing practitioner who not only knows what they are doing but is committed to community and anti colonial practice. If I could give 10 stars I would.
